Welcome to My Personal Page
Dear family and friends,
Welcome to my Miles for Moffitt personal page! It's that time of year again- the 13th annual Miles for Moffitt event is December 8, 2018! Lucky number 13!
As many of you know, I wear multiple hats at Moffitt. I am the Chief Data Officer, Associate Center Director for Data Science, and a researcher. My own epidemiology studies aim to elucidate the role of viral infection, UV exposure and immune function in relation to skin cancer. Of course, all of my work is inspired by my Mom, Laurie. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about her at work and at home.
This the second year for my Data Dashers team, which is comprised of team members in Health Data Services and Quantitative Sciences. I have encouraged all of the faculty and staff in my areas to enlist their own family members, friends, and members of the community to contribute. I even wrote a column in our internal Moffitt newsletter, describing how much I've been insprired by this annual event in the fourteen years I've worked at Moffitt. Last year, we shattered our fundraising goal, so I set the bar even higher this year. Please help us in achieving our team goal of $10,000! Keep in mind that 100% of all money raised goes directly to research. As a recipient of a Miles for Moffitt grant myself, I can attest to the critical importance of these funds in jumpstarting groundbreaking research projects. You may be a family member or friend who knew my Mom personally, or who feels as if you knew her through the stories I tell.
In honor of all those who lost their lives to cancer, are currently battling cancer, and/or are cancer survivors, I greatly appreciate your support for our Miles for Moffitt team.
