TEAM 51 Year 2:
We are working to end cancer and we need your help!
Last year as my bar mitzvah project I chose raising money for cancer research. My family has been dealing with cancer a lot. On my mom's side of the family, my uncle and grandfather both died from cancer. My grandmother, my mom's mom, also died from cancer before I was born.
Now, my grandfather, my dad's dad, is fighting cancer.
Moffitt Cancer Center is where my uncle participated in a trial treatment that ,unfortunately, didn't save his life.
My grandfather who is fighting cancer now is being treated at Moffitt Cancer Center.
I hope for a time when there is no more cancer and researching how to fight cancer is the only way to making that hope a reality.
On Saturday, December 8th 2018, my family and I are participating in the 13th annual Miles for Moffitt run/walk event.
We are Team 51! We named our team "Team 51" for my Uncle Ron who wore number 51 during his college basketball career. He lost his fight to cancer at age 41 but we are still working to help others in need of a cure.
Every dollar of my team's registration fee … and every dollar our fundraising efforts bring in … go completely to support lifesaving cancer research at Moffitt Cancer Center. Moffitt researchers are at the very front lines of the effort to defeat cancer. They've already made so many amazing breakthroughs, and cancer patients here in Florida and around the world have benefited from their efforts.
But there's so much MORE work to do. So many MORE lives still to be saved!
That's why my team and I are asking you to support us in our Miles for Moffitt run. Whether you can give $10 or $1,000, every penny will help bring closer the day when cancer is beaten. Please do what you can to help. Thank you so much!
With sincere thanks!
