Exactly 1 yr ago today I was diagnosed with stage IV inoperable lung cancer. I went back and forth in my head for a while on whether or not I should share my story. Because... well, I’m a proud person and I don’t want to be looked at differently, I don’t want to be looked at like a hopeless, helpless person. I’m far from that. Yes, things are different. But I’m still the same boss ass bitch those who know me have grown to love... or hate... whatever. I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s ok. I just feel that if my story can motivate someone to get checked out when they feel something is wrong instead of ignoring it because ‘it’s probably nothing’ or ‘I don’t have time’.Or just inspire someone to stay positive through hard times. Or something so simple as to remember to smile and be kind because you never ever know what someone is going through or what you may go through yourself. Life is tough sometimes.
When I got diagnosed my son was 4.5 and my daughter was almost 6 months old. It was unexpected as I never was a cigarette smoker. Receiving that news was devastating, it was crushing but is was also eye opening!!!! It really showed me so much about life and about the people I keep in it. News like that really has a way of bringing out the best and worst in people. It’s brought me closer to some and to some... not so much. At the end of the day though I am happy, blessed and stronger than I was a year ago. The universe and god had a plan. It has been a blessing in disguise. I know that sounds beyond ridiculous but it’s true in so many ways. I’m greatful for my amazing loving and supportive circle and the amazing team at Moffit. They have saved my life. So, in honor of Lung cancer awareness month I am starting a team to walk at Miles for moffit to raise not only awareness but to raise money to continue to help find a cure for not just lung cancer, but for all the cancers. Bc they all suck! Cancer sucks! Fuck cancer!!! Follow the link and join me! Come out and walk or donate!!! FYI- every penny raised goes directly to moffit to help find a cure!
We're working to end cancer … and we need your help!
On Saturday, December 8, 2018, Our team is participating in the 13th annual Miles for Moffitt run/walk event. All proceeds go completely to support lifesaving cancer research at Moffitt Cancer Center. Moffitt researchers are at the very front lines of the effort to defeat cancer. They've already made so many amazing breakthroughs, and cancer patients here in Florida and around the world have benefited from their efforts.
But there's so much MORE work to do. So many MORE lives still to be saved!
That's why we're asking you to support me and my team in our Miles for Moffitt run/walk — either by signing up to participate yourself (I'd love to have you on the team!), or by giving a tax-deductible gift to support our efforts. Whether you can give $10 or $1,000, every penny will help bring closer the day when cancer is beaten. Please do what you can to help. Thank you so much!
