Together We Will (Fight Cancer)

Together We Will work to end cancer … and we need your help!

On Saturday, November 23, 2019, Our team is participating in the 14th annual Miles for Moffitt run/walk event. All proceeds go completely to support lifesaving cancer research at Moffitt Cancer Center. Moffitt researchers are at the very front lines of the effort to defeat cancer. They've already made so many amazing breakthroughs, and cancer patients, like my Dad (Mark Buchanan) here in Florida and around the world have benefited from their efforts.

My Dad, Mark Buchanan has impacted so many lives at IRCS. In October of 2017, he was diagnosed with Non-hodgkins Lymphoma - a condition that occurs when the body produces too many abnormal lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell. He underwent chemotherapy for five months, but after having no response, was put through a clinical trial called Car-T Therapy. After the therapy, my dad was announced cancer free! However, he relapsed in September of 2018, and has been going back and forth receiving numerous types of treatment.

From May-August  2019, he and my mother, Jennifer Buchanan were living at Moffitt, where he underwent a stem cell transfusion.  As of September 5th, 2019, there has been no signs of cancer in his body!  It has been a long journey, but he has fought harder than anyone I've ever met.  He is currently home recovering and hoping to return to teaching and coaching in January of 2020.  I want to continue to thank Moffitt for all they've done for my family, and what they continue to do for others that have their own battle.

That's why I'm asking YOU to support the "Together We Will (Fight Cancer)" team in our Miles for Moffitt run/walk — either by signing up to participate yourself (I'd love to have you on the team!), or by giving a tax-deductible gift to support our efforts. Whether you can give $10 or $100, every dollar will help bring closer the day when cancer is beaten. Please do what you can to help. Thank you so much!
