Co-Captain Tom Sellers' Cancer Research Revolutionaries Page
I have the great honor to serve as the Director of the Moffitt Cancer Center and lead our research efforts. Every day I am inspired by the commitment of our incredibly bright faculty, staff and trainees. I have been at Moffitt since 2003, and it didn't take long to realize that because of our culture of teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration we can accomplish what most other Centers cannot. Some view that as an opportunity, but we recognize it is a responsibility. Realizing our potential to prevent and cure cancer requires funding, and you can help!
I've spent my entire academic career, now over three decades long, in cancer research. Having an amazing wife and partner who understands and supports all that comes with being a scientist has enabled me to contribute as best I can. Our first son was diagnosed with cancer in 2015. He is doing well, thanks to research that turned his disease from one that used to be a death sentence to one with over 95% cure rates. My mother was not so fortunate. She was twice diagnosed with cancer, and eventually died of her disease. Those life lessons transformed my academic career and "job" into something deeply personal. That's why our team is called the CANCER RESEARCH REVOLUTIONARIES. Moffitt is aiming for the largest amount raised ever. I'm anxious to do my part to realize that ambition and greatly appreciate your support.
