Peter's fundraising page
Every year at this time, I ask for your support to help me meet my Miles for Moffitt fundraising goal. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's event will be "held virtually." So instead of running with others on Bayshore Blvd, I will be weaving my way through the streets of South Tampa--heading through the neighborhoods of South Howard and Hyde Park--on my 5K run.
Every dollar raised at the Miles for Moffitt event goes directly to support cancer research. On an annual basis, faculty at Moffitt are invited to submit a research proposal that goes through a competitive, peer-reviewed process. Investigators with proposals that earn high merit rankings receive Miles for Moffitt grant awards.
I have been Chair and Program Leader of Cancer Epidemiology at Moffitt since January 2014, and I am extremely proud that over that time period ten Miles for Moffitt grant awards have gone to faculty members of Cancer Epidemiology!!
Recently, Miles for Moffitt funding has been awarded to:
- Dr. Anna Coghill for her proposal to assess differences in prostate cancer molecular features by HIV status;
- Dr. Nancy Gillis for her work on clonal hematopoiesis as a risk factor for patients with multiple myeloma;
- Drs. Lauren Peres and Matthew Schabath for their investigation of radiomics to optimize treatment decision and predict outcomes in women with ovarian carcinoma.
Please help propel cancer research to the next level. Cancer prevention has never been closer.
