I MOVE in Honor of Autumn!
Three years ago I was working at Miles for Moffitt as a member of the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation's team. I worked with so many remarkable donors and people personally impacted by cancer and each day I was inspired by them. I never knew how personal it would become less than a year later. This year it has all come full circle as I personally participate in Miles for Moffitt and run in honor of one of my dearest friends, Autumn, who is currently being treated at Moffitt.
Autumn was diagnosed with Stage IVa metastatic melanoma in the fall of 2019. I'll never forget the day she shared the news with me. I will also never forget how quickly my friends at Moffitt and the absolutely incredible cutaneous oncology team moved to get Autumn in and on a treatment regimen as quickly as possible. I will forever be grateful to them.
I believe in my heart that Autumn's life is being saved by the grace of God, the immunotherapy she is on and the Moffitt team. I also know from my years with Moffitt that her immunotherapy would not exist without the VITAL research happening at Moffitt. And that is exactly why I am running in Miles for Moffitt - to fundraise for the life-changing research at Moffitt Cancer Center.
Autumn is married to my husband's best friend, Greg, and in the time they have been together she has become one of my closest friends. I have watched her fight cancer with positivity and so much courage. Autumn has made amazing progress in her fight against cancer throughout the past two years, but it's not been without its setbacks and challenge. She is the strongest person I know. So on November 20 I am running alongside Autumn to support her as she continues to kick cancer's booty.
I am asking for you to please support Autumn and every single person impacted by cancer and in need of life-saving treatments by giving to or participating in Miles for Moffitt! I raised money for research at Moffitt as a fundraiser in their Foundation and always knew the researchers were rockstars, but in the past two years it has taken on a whole new meaning.
Whether you can give $10, $50, $100 or $1,000, every single dollar matters as we support Moffitt's mission - to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer.
THANK YOU for your prayers and your support of the Moffitt Cancer Center community! I am so grateful for you.
