Welcome to My Personal Fundraising Page!
This year, I'm joining my brother, Chris Gardner, and the countless others participating in Miles for Moffitt. We are moving for what matters - love, courage, and finding the cures to cancer.
I'm asking for your support as I fundraise for cancer research at Moffitt Cancer Center.
My brother said it best, his words below:
If you have never had any experience with Moffitt Cancer Center, you may not realize just how lucky we are to have them in our community. Of the ~1500 cancer center treatment centers in the country, only 50 are recognized as Comprehensive Care Centers by the National Cancer Institute. Additionally, Moffitt is the only one in the State of Florida. This designation recognizes only the few that can demonstrate excellence in outcomes in treating a broad spectrum of cancers. They must also show a heavy commitment to cancer research and be equipped with the latest technology related to both research and the treatment of cancer. Last year Moffitt had 2600 students work or study with them at various levels. In other words, they are cancer beating BEASTS!
Moffitt is the most amazing place you never want to be. Their employees have pride in where they work and they should. The nurses, MA’s, techs, and social workers that care for admitted patients are phenomenal and a rare breed. They are positive and they have purpose because they know they save lives and contribute to miracles happening, DAILY. At the same time, they must be resilient and committed enough to care for people, DAILY, in horrible pain, stripped of their dignity, and humbled by cancer. Many of these patients were thriving, successful and confident mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters just months earlier.
Their physicians are top notch and they truly care. Dr. Hoffman was in charge of my Mother’s care supported by Dr. Fernandez, Dr. Todd from USF Health, and Dr. Portman (pain/palliative) to name a few. Dr. Fernandez was my Mother’s Radiation Oncologist. He cried with her after discussing the results of her PET Scan and delivering the honest outlook ahead. He had just recently lost his mother to the exact same type of cancer. You want people like this in your corner. They are there for more than a paycheck.
Odds are that Cancer will effect you or a loved one at some point. When it does, you will be thankful we have such close access to the level of care Moffitt can provide. We should be just as proud to have them as part of Champa Bay as we are of the Rays, Bucs, and Bolts.
Please join me in raising funds for patients, families, survivors, and caregivers by joining my team or making a gift to my personal fundraising page. Whether you can give $10 or $1,000, every dollar matters to supporting Moffitt's mission - to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer.
Thank you for your support and being an important part of the Miles for Moffitt community!
