Carry On for Jan
WELCOME TO OUR TEAM!
COVID-19 has changed how groups can fundraise and many walks are virtual… which means anyone anywhere can join! I never thought cancer would touch my family. The day after Christmas my mother lost her battle against ovarian cancer. She was stage 4 when diagnosed. The organ that gave my siblings and I life, took hers at 66 years old.
What we didn't know was ovarian cancer often has no symptoms in the early stages, and later they are non-specific. There are no early detection tests like mammograms or pap test. This infuriated my mom every day for 13 months. She did chemo at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, a nonprofit cancer treatment and research center.
I want to help raise funds for their research and pray a test is developed to detect this fifth leading cause of cancer-related death among women.
Please consider joining Team Carry On for Jan and donating. We can be a global team, raising awareness and funds in honor of Janice Barocas.
The virtual event is on Saturday, Oct. 24, wherever you are. 100% of proceeds go to support research at Moffitt. If you register before Sept. 20 they will mail you a race shirt and medal.
